Immense Growth
"Our company has grown
beyond our wildest
expectations," Mike Odum,
General Manager of James
Brown Trucking, says.
Brown Trucking has been a
PaperWise customer since
1996. Before adapting the
PaperWise system into their
business they were a $1 to
$2 million company. Today,
they boast $65 to $70
million in annual revenue.
They have grown from one
location to nine terminals.
As the size of Brown
Trucking increases, Mike is
continually pleased with the
level of service PaperWise
has continued to provide.
Even with experiencing
such growth in the
transportation industry,
Brown has not sacrificed its
level of quality. With 98.8%
on-time deliveries, Brown
operates with 375 power
units and 2,500 trailers.
An Expandable Office
With nine current
locations and two more on
the way, remote scanning is
a necessity. Brown currently
scans remotely from eight of
their nine locations and
enters all company
information into their
PaperWise document
management system. According
to Mike, remote scanning is,
"the only way we'd survive."
Not only does Brown
operate with multiple remote
locations, but with
PaperWise they have
employees that are now able
to work from home three days
a week. According to Mike,
with PaperWise, they are
able to perform all the same
duties from home that they
would normally do in the
office.
Reduced Billing Time
With Brown operating from
so many locations, they
faced challenges with
sending bills back and forth
between offices in their
centralized billing process.
It was taking several days
to receive bills and get
them paid as well as send
bills and receive payments.
With PaperWise, Brown has
been able to retain their
centralized billing, but cut
down the time wasted in
transit. Today, Brown is
able to accomplish same-day
billing, which keeps Mike
happy because now they have
better cash flow and never
miss a payment to their
vendors.
Superior Integration
Brown manages their
business with TruckMate,
a Maddocks system.
"We chose the Maddocks
System because of its
industry-wide reputation of
providing leading edge
software, which interfaces
with both of our satellite
programs," Mike says. Even
with this change, Brown had
no problems staying with
PaperWise because of its
integration capabilities.
"We wanted to stay with
PaperWise because we are
happy with it," Mike says.
